Icarus mural - Paris 13
Hom Nguyen has revisited the myth of Icarus and his fall, brought about by the sun's imprudent approach, which burned his wax wings. The artist invites us to enter his inner world, a reflection in which Icarus's work takes the form of an initiatory flight.
Guided by an immersive light, the brush reveals feathers, the sketch of an angel spreading its wings to break free from the trap of alienation in a world that has become labyrinthine, an abyss of existences adrift in meaning. Within us still slumbers the gaze of the child, and our hearts, laden with illusions, trace in our minds a thousand dreams, a thousand aspirations we wish to achieve. Each disappointment, each dissonant experience strips us of feathers until, finally, we lose the very breath that once fueled those dreams.
Through this transitional space, like a slow, soothing breath, Hom Nguyen's work, in the starkness of black and white, resonates with a clear predominance of light. This light guides us, reveals our potential, leading us toward that which remains connected to a mysterious and spiritual part of ourselves. It invites us to meditate and then open our wings to spread them. An ascending journey that plunges us into the depths of shadows as much as it lifts us toward the most beautiful glimmers of personal growth. An echo of liberation, of an impulse capable of reaching sublime realms.
This work is visible on rue Brillat - Savarin in Paris in the 13th arrondissement.
